MY PORTFOLIO

  Educational Professional Development
Professional Development @GLC   |01

2019/20 school year was a very special year in many senses, and looking back at the opportunities it brought to me, I'd like to share a particular professional one: gathering my learning evidences and putting them together with my insights and reflections to create my professional portfolio

At Gimnasio Los Caobos we were challenged to develop as reflective educational professionals. And I loved taking this challenge, which drove me to restart writing in my forgotten website. Although I could have started a new website from scratch, my background and past experiences are also part of the professional educator I am today, and I'd love to share that with you all as well.

Our GLC TLG (Teachers' Learning & Growth) team was accepted to take part in this Project Zero online course which began on 24th February 2020.

Honestly, it was hard work, especially once the Covid-19 pandemic started. Yet, I truly believe this big effort together with Ana Vivas and Mauricio Posada was worthy. Little by little, as we continue interiorising all the lessons learned and we keep on making moves to put the 8 forces which may truly transform schools into action, we hope to see results of the seeds we are planting and a positive impact on students and the educational community.

  360 Learning

Learning anyhow anywhere @ any time   |03

As a 360 learner, every single occasion, event, adventure, trip or training are an opportunity to learn and transfer the lessons learned to the educational field in which I am submerged passionately and vocationally.

As an educator, have you ever experienced the feeling you are even on holiday and you visit a place, read an article, meet someone... and then a lightbulb lights on in your mind and you think... 'Hey! Take notes of that.. Because that may turn into a meaningful learning opportunity for students'?

That's me every now and then.

Public speaking and leadership skills   |04

In May 2019I became a member of 22@Barcelona Toastmasters Club, which offered me great and unique opportunities to improve not only my public speaking skills, but also my leadership ones.  When becoming a TM member, I could start to take up many different roles in the management and organization of the meetings, such as the Toastmaster of the day, the TableTopics Master, the sargeant-at-arms, the grammarian, or the timer.

Before my arrival in Bogotá on 23rd July 2019, I had already established contact with the VP Public relations of my current club, the Toastmasters Bogotá English Club. And here I continue to grow every single week, as an active member and as the VP Education.

Impro & drama   |05

In 2019, I started attending the Sunday workshops by the @BIG School of Improv, in Barcelona. Thanks to them, I had the chance to learn about improvisation techniques while having loads of fun.

Apart from those techniques, I learned by doing, not only by observing, analysing and giving feedback; but also, from the experience when jumping on the stage!

Besides, I was pushed to think outside the box, and I could develop collaborative and socioemotional skills which, I can also apply in my EFL/ESL classes, or even in other contexts to promote an atmosphere which enhances collaborative work.

From there, once I arrived in Bogotá, I suggested to create the Improv English sessions, as we couldn’t find any club who did it in any other language apart from Spanish. Fortunately, some members from the TM Bogotá English club decided to join, and from then, we’ve been doing it even online!

Articles   |06

Read my articles published in different moments of my teaching career as a result of my educational experiences and my reflection on them.

After having written two dissertations for my masters' degree, I know how much an enriching experience reflecting and putting thoughts into written words can be.

You'll see they are written in three different languages: Catalan, Spanish and English.
